And I just ordered the Light Phone II yesterday! It won't arrive till May, but I'm ready. I actually purposefully chose the version without the camera. I will still use my soon-to-be disconnected smartphone for photos and Spotify/Whatsapp when on Wifi, but it can spend most of its time in a drawer, it's rightful place. Looking forward to rediscovering my love of photography via my old clunky digital camera, and also probably not taking as many photos at all, but staying in the moment.
It's shocking to me how I can get sucked into my phone with no social media but Email, Whatsapp, Photos, Browser, and Spotify. Apparently it's enough to get a good doomscroll going and I'm over it.
This is great, Katie! I was thinking of the Light Phone II for the same reason. I have an old Polaroid camera I love and was just gifted two gorgeous vintage Canon SLRs I have no idea how to use, but what a great reason to learn, right? If I had to pick a word for this year, it would be "real." Give me film, give me devices that don't turn me into a machine, give me the joy of rediscovering a mixed CD!
I think the flu really is that bad this year. It wiped out our whole co-op and multiple families were down a week plus. We’re still working our way through it, but everyone has said it’s vicious.
Yes, it's been over a week for me and I'm still hacking up my lungs and feeling nauseated. I can think of four other families off the top of my head who are sick or have been sick in the last week. It's rough.
