This was a different sort of Holy Week for us, as it was Lucy’s spring break and we spent it traveling on a Carnival cruise. (I’m currently writing this from our gate at the New Orleans airport, ready to be home!) In the library on board the ship, I noticed a Seder service on Passover, and yesterday, on Good Friday, I sat out on one of the quieter decks and read the words of Julian of Norwich, “For just as the blissful Trinity made all things out of nothing, so the same blessed Trinity shall make well all that is not well.” Tomorrow, still a bit sunburned and travel-weary, we will attend Easter services at our church and celebrate the victory of Jesus’ resurrection. It’s all a reminder of how the holy intersects with ordinary life, and we are each invited to notice.
